China CITIC Bank is affiliated to China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC). It was established in 1987, which is one of the earliest established commercial banks during Chinese reform and opening to the rest of the world. In 2002, China International Trust and Investment Corporation was renamed to be CITIC Group and it founded CITIC Holdings Limited giving priority to China CITIC Bank. At present, China CITIC Bank is the fully owned subsidiary of CITIC Holdings Limited. Mr. Rong Yiren, the former national vice-president, was the first board chairman and Chen Xiaoxian is the present president.

In the near 20 years since its establishment, China CITIC Bank has been extending and innovating all the time relying on the comprehensive advantages of CITIC Group, and hence has contributed greatly to the development of Chinese economy. On Nov. 25, 2005, CITIC Industrial Bank was renamed to be China CITIC Bank in order to better represent its operation characteristics as a business bank. After that, China CITIC Bank approaches better to the market rapidly, grasps the market chances, takes part in the international competition, introduces the international advanced operation concepts, financial technologies and management experience, which results in extensive improvement of its operation achievements and management level and extinguished upgrade of its social status and appraisal within the field. In particular, China CITIC Bank has been ranked in the front in various lists and awards of the domestic and foreign banks since 2006.

In January 2006, the Chinese magazine “The Banker?publicized the top ten financial people in 2005 chosen by this magazine and the president of China CITIC Bank, Chen Xiaoxian was selected as one of them.

In March 2006, the Chinese magazine “The Banker?ranked the core competition of domestic commercial banks and China CITIC Bank took the fourth place within the 13 national commercial banks.

In June 2006, the English magazine “The Banker? authoritative magazine in the international financial field, publicized the ranking list of “top 100 strong domestic banks?for the first time in Beijing and China CITIC Bank was list in the seventh place for its achievements at the end of 2005. Meanwhile, it was also list in the seventh place in asserts ranking list and the updated average capital profit margin and its updated effective profit growth rate was listed in the second position within all the ranked banks.

In June 2006, China CITIC Bank won ?006 Asian Retail Financial Service Excellence Award?and “Strategy and Implementation Excellence Award?organized by ASIAN BANKER.

In June 2006, China CITIC Bank was granted the advanced award of the best export factor service quality in the FCI Annual Conference held in Antwerp, Belgium and it became the first Chinese bank to win FCI award.

In June 2006, the credit card center of China CITIC Bank won the “best Chinese customer service center?award in the ?005-2006 the best Chinese customer service appraisal activity?held by Best Chinese Customer Service Appraisal Committee and sponsored by Chinese Information Association, Asian Customer Service Association, Guangdong Information Association, Nanfang City News and Xinjing Newspaper.

In June 2006, the financial product “Abroad-round-through?of China CITIC Bank won the second prize in ?005-2006 Chinese excellent marketing award?co-organized by “The Economic Observer?and Hongkong Management Association.

In July 2006, core capital rank of China CITIC Bank was again raised by 12 in “world 1000 banks?in the newest ranking list publicized by the English magazine “The Banker?, from 200 in 2005 to 188 and the rank of total asserts was also raised from 152 to 134.

In August 2006, China CITIC Bank was appraised to be the best Chinese foreign exchange service bank by “Asia Money 2006 FX POLL? which is the best authorized award in the foreign exchange service field.

In September 2006, the president Chen Xiaoxian won “Chinese excellent ten financial new people in 2006?in “the First Shanghai Lujiazui Financial Cultural Festival and the Third Chinese International Financial Forum and 2006 Annual Conference? Besides, China CITIC Bank also won the prize of ?006 Chinese top ten growing financial organs?
