Hu Jintao: Positive Changes are Shown in Chinese Economy and the Overall Situation is Stabilized

Chinese President Hu Jintao said on the afternoon of July 6 (local time) in Rome that at present positive changes were shown in China’s economic operations and the overall situation was stabilized.
China-Italy Economic and Trade Forum and Enterprises Fair was held on July 6 in Rome, Italy. Hu Jintao and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi attended the closing ceremony.
Hu put forward five proposals on how to deepen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation under new situation: to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy, with driving force of economic and trade cooperation; to create a favorable environment for trade and investment, with the goal of facilitation; to push economic and trade cooperation to a new level, with focus of structural optimization; to consolidate the foundation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, with main body of small and medium enterprises; to oppose all forms of protectionism, with observance of opening up concept.
Since the outbreak of the international financial crisis, China has sent trade and investment promoting delegation to Europe for several times in just a few months.
Hu said the action was to promote the common development of the two countries and even the world. From now on, China would continue to follow the mutually beneficial and win-win opening up strategy, and maintain the market environment with fair competition. China and Italy should work together to resist the trade and investment protectionism and strive to maintain an open, fair and equal global economic and trade system.
